Nine frames analysis

TRAINSPOTTING

From observing these nine individual frames, there is a clear visual as to the narrative of the story. The use of a syringe (Mise en scene) ideally indicating injecting drugs shows a strong genre and depicts an image of young men. The majority of the shots that are taken are either close ups or are mid shots (Cinematography) , including a lot of facial expressions which help to expand on the anger, aggression and violence of the film which is possibly influenced by the drugs.

The use of colour, shows a high saturation of colours and are very vivid. This, to the audience shows that compared to other films, it could be a very upbeat and drama filled film.

In three of the shots, it shows that he is accompanied by 3-4 other men, proving he is not isolated or alone. This could show that he is part of a gang and that they could be from a rough background. The fact that their are multiple boys of similar ages could show that they have done drugs various times and that it could have lead to an addiction.

The top right shot, taken in water of he man, could suggest drowning and a downwards spiral that drugs can lead you to if taken in high dosages.
