Test audience feedback and alterations

Questions

1.Does our opening scene suit the genre that we have chosen, being horror?

2.Where there any issues with the continuity?

3.What age rating would you give this film?

4.Was the cinematography successfully shot well for this opening scene?

5.What would you rate this opening scene considering Mise en Scene, Cinematography, Sound, Editing and Performance?

6.Do you feel the sound was well suited to the genre?

Feedback:

To the following questions

1. All of the people that gave feedback felt that the opening scene of the shooting was well suited to the genre.
- It was intense with the heartbeat and the heavy breathing
- The sound was very effective

2. The majority of the answers for this was no. This was the answer that we were looking for seeing as the opening scene is a montage and not one successful go at shooting.

3. Through out the viewers of this film opening, there was a balanced response of the film either being at an age rating of 15 or 18 which is very appropriate for the genre that we are trying to shoot.

4. On the whole the cinematography was shot well. There was one issue that was picked up on from a few of the audience members. That was in the montage there was a shot of a man putting on a glove, and in the next scene he is seen walking away after dropping the plyers, however without any gloves on.
Other feedback consisted of the scream being too loud, there not being enough close ups, and a shaky forest shot, and the font is too small/not appropriate for the sizing.

5. The majority said 7/10

6. All of the people giving feedback felt the sound was fitted well and appropriate.

Through receiving this feedback, we took the comments into consideration and changed the following from some of our scenes:
- we made the font bigger so that the white stood out more against certain backgrounds
- we sped up the forest shot so that is was less shaky, but more effective
- we lightened some of the scenes because they looked a bit too dark
- we decreased the volume of the scream
